Support throughout your entire career with programmes delivered by EDT in the early years

As you may already be aware, the Early Years Professional Development Programme (EYPDP) is delivered by Education Development Trust (EDT) who are a global, not-for-profit organisation whose vision is a world where lives are transformed through excellent education.

At EDT, we have worked with the early years sector for several years, reaching many young children across England through our growing portfolio of programmes.
The latest phase of the EYPDP was launched as part of the DfE’s Early Years Education Recovery Programme to support the sector by delivering high quality CPD to up to 10,000 early years practitioners in England. This month we are delighted to be welcoming our fourth and final cohort of learners to the programme.

What other training does EDT deliver to support the early years sector?

Skills Bootcamps in Early Years

From March 19, 2024, we will begin delivering new Skills Bootcamps in Early Years across England. The bootcamps are short, flexible courses in early years education, incorporating learning, work experience, and essential skills development opportunities.

Funded by the Department for Education (DfE), the new Skills Bootcamps in Early Years will provide short, remote-learning courses to adults aged 19 or over who are currently out of work, looking to upskill, or get into the early years sector for the first time. The courses are free* and last up to 16 weeks, giving people the opportunity to build experience and sector-specific skills.

Participants will receive accredited training with sector professionals alongside work experience in a local childcare environment. Every learner will also work with Development Coaches, who are specialists in supporting people into education and employment opportunities. Upon completion, participants’ learning could be further boosted through an accelerated apprenticeship with a relevant provider. This can cut 16 weeks from a standard apprenticeship route, helping to make apprenticeships more efficient for apprentices, employers and providers.

NPQEYL for current and aspiring leaders working within early years

The NPQ (National Professional Qualification) for early years leadership is for leaders who are, or are aspiring to be, managers of private, voluntary and independent nurseries, headteachers of school-based or maintained nurseries, or childminders with leadership responsibilities.

EDT’s NPQEYL can help leaders to develop expertise at both an operational and strategic level with evidence informed practice and equip them with a comprehensive set of leadership skills specifically tailored for the early years sector. The programme also supports leaders to…

• Navigate the common challenges in early years leadership
• Enhance the quality of early years provision in their setting
• Plan and deliver a high-quality curriculum to support child development.

99% of EDT’s Leadership NPQ participants said they were satisfied or very satisfied with their course.
